surprised and pleased with my 7th place finish. One of the judges who is not fond of the girls with muscle had to unexpectedly miss the show. I think this worked out in some of the competitor’s best interest…..including mine. I still prefer a harder look, but I do feel as if this is the best “soft” look I have produced thus far. I only did a very slight depletion (removed sodium, took one diuretic the afternoon before the show, and only carb loaded 2 meals). I also loaded up on aspirin all week to thin my blood and reduce my vascularity! What a far cry from what figure use to be! Super simple compared to what I use to do. Let’s hope for a higher finish at North Americans in Sept! GO NATURAL FREAKS!!!

I’ve contemplated blogging on this for some time, unsure if it was appropriate and thinking maybe I should create a separate blog. Last week I just decided to jump in feet first….come what may!

Ever since becoming saved, born again, or whatever you refer to it as, I have been very outspoken about being a child of God, but rarely spoke of the struggles associated with “living” a Christian life rather than merely “talking” about it. This was one of the reasons it took me so long to become a Christian. I was always a believer, but never fully understood how so many people who called themselves Christians, didn’t live their lives any differently than non-Christians. Was there even suppose to be a distinctive difference? It was something I couldn’t figure out and was therefore in no rush to become saved. After attending church regularly during my latter years of college, I finally chose to give my life to Christ completely in Oct 2001. I thought the heavens would open up and life would be smooth sailing from then on out. No one told me that was far from the truth. As I studied, matured, learned, and grew with new eyes and a new perspective, it really hit me that it certainly does become more difficult when you are saved, because at that point you are held accountable for everything you do. It is not merely about attending church, praying, singing, shouting, or participating in church rituals and activities. It requires a lifestyle change (similar to healthy living in bodybuilding & fitness). It requires patience, dedication, and time. There are highs & lows, ups & downs, good & bad, BUT reassurance comes in the trust that is placed in God. TRUE Christian living and not “lip-service” is a moment to moment continual life long struggle. It never ends and in my opinion, can never be fully perfected, but only improved.

So what? What’s the point in this post? The point is that before I got saved I was not perfect and now that I am saved I am still not perfect. I get happy & sad, angry, and even pissed. I also scream, hurt, laugh, cry, and screw up (frequently), but despite this I try my best to remember the purpose/reason/bigger picture for everything. It is TOUGH! What I want is for people to see the TRUE struggles that people who are trying to live according to God’s Will go through and not just the “nicey-nice” Sunday church façade many put on to “appear” Christ-like in front of others. I’m sure some posts will be good and others not so great, but all will discuss the true heartfelt struggles I (and many others) endure while trying to live according to God’s Will in a world that so vehemently opposes it. Welcome along for the journey. Please feel free to ask questions and state your opinions.

Voluntarily sitting in 230 degree heat for minimal prizes is an annual sporting event over there. At the end of the post, there was a link that discussed other tragic deaths of sports figures. As I looked through them all it again made me think of how many of these athletes changed the face of sports although their lives were extinguished far too soon.

A few on the list of 32 include: Payne Stewart, Lorenzen Wright, Steve Prefontaine, Len Bias, Corey Smith, Marquis Stewart, Dale Earnhadt, Sean Taylor, and Pat Tillman.

I saw this story in the news yesterday. 25-year old, Victoria Lacatus, a 528lb woman gave birth to her first child in February. She and her then fiance (who weighs 150+ lbs) had their first child together. She stated that the child was a demonstration of their love for each other. They later married. She passed away yesterday of a heart attack and other complication due to obesity.

This is the issue. The doctors warned her that the pregnancy would be high risk due to her size and that there would be many complications during and after the pregnancy. Just the birthing process alone (c-section) took special accommodations due to her size. But now this 5-month old child is left with no mother. I question how fair that is to the child.

It reminded me of the case of the 60-something year old woman who wanted kids, had twins, and then died 2-years after they were born. She was a single and these children were left with no parent when she died. I guess my question is at what point should we consider the future of the children over our personal desires?

A lot of ladies like to post workout videos where they are in full makeup, booty shorts and boobs hanging out, freshly done hair, and evenly misted with water serving as fake sweat. Then they expect us to believe they actually look that beautiful when working out…..PULEEZE! Since I’m all about being honest and keepin’ it real, I’m posting this picture of me post workout after doing stairs yesterday evening (8pm) in 90 degrees+ Vegas heat. This is what REAL women look like after they workout. And honestly it usually looks alot worse, but this was a light workout! For all the hardcore ladies who look broke down after working out, but feel amazing, this is for you! WE ROCK!

Competed in the IFPA Sacramento Pro show over the weekend and placed 3rd. Haven’t gotten feedback yet, but I believe I wasn’t lean enough. (One week too lean and big, the next, not lean enough….funny!) I think I had size over most of the other competitors, but was not as lean as the first place finisher, nor did I present my size well on stage. They pose alot different than in NPC so I have to work on that. This organization seems to emphasize leaness over symmetry, conditioning, and size. They said “We want to see all the muscles and separation you have.” At least I know exactly what they judge on. It was a fun show and very well run. Natural Organization too….Hoo-Rah!! Below are some stage shots and pics of me with the first and second place winners Chrissy and Trish.
