Big claims demand clinical testing to prove effectiveness. Unfortunately, most companies only rely on slick marketing instead of facts because it costs literally thousands of dollars to perform such tests. Others manipulate the data of existing tests and research (that originally had nothing to do with their products) to make them look even better. Still others claim their product is patented or patent-pending. If this is true, you should easily be able to locate it on the U.S. Patent Office’s website.

Something most consumers never even consider is what they’re actually giving their money to when they support a company by buying their products. Find out who is in charge, and if they have a rock solid reputation in the industry. Just a few clicks on the more reputable message boards will reveal volumes. Do they support beliefs or organizations that are aligned with yours? Has the company ever even marketed a bogus product or ingredient? Do they have civil or criminal actions against them? The cold, hard truth may surprise you!

Beware if a company doesn’t have a return policy. And if they do, make sure it isn’t so strict you can’t even qualify. Also, check on the time limit allowed to make a return.
